HALL OF FAME
Welcome to the hallowed halls
of the Barker's Pools Hall of Fame! Each year, this is where we honor our
greatest pool players of all-time, as we add a new player to the Hall of Fame,
and we name a Player of the Year for the previous 12 months of competitions. Below, you
will find our honorees for 2007, followed by a list of all of our award-winners
since 2004 (our
first year holding a Hall of Fame ceremony). If you are a player of the
pools, keep playing in
the competitions and try to earn a nomination yourself! Hall of Fame
nominees must play for
TWO years before they are eligible, while Player of the Year nominees just need
to have a
strong year of play. Each year, the prizes that go to our award-winners
improve, so keep trying! We will announce our next set of nominees in
January of 2009!

2007 Hall of Fame Ceremony
March 1st, 2008:
Welcome to the
2007 Hall of Fame Ceremony! The voting ended on Super Bowl Sunday, and now
I am here with the results! Before we get to those, let me get to a few
quick items of news: 1) I like the change we made to the time of year for
this ceremony, so I think we will stick with it. So, we will start each
year of pools with the Super Bowl Squares Pool, we will end it with the College
Bowl Pool, the nominees will be announced each January, and the voting will end
on Super Bowl Sunday. 2) The voting turnout was much better this year, as
you will see, but next year we will have a drawing for all of the voters, where
the winner of the random drawing will receive a free March Madness entry.
3) The prizes for our Hall of Fame and Player of the Year winners are getting
better each year, and I hope to continue improving them, so keep trying to
secure your nomination! If you have any suggestions for the Hall of Fame,
as far as requirements for being nominated, prizes we could award, just
whatever, then let me know!
Let's get to the results for the 2007 ceremony.
Below, you will find the Hall of Fame and
Player of the Year voting results,
along with info on our 2007 winners. Scroll to the bottom for all of our
previous award-winners (from 2004 to 2006):

- 2007 Hall of Fame Inductee -
Trudy R. (aka. St. Gertrudius,
Gridiron Gert, Angelika, Charles Hostilius)
Pool Player Since: 1999
Total Winnings: $2,218
Week 3 Winner:
2003 NCAA Football Pool (24 players) - Won: $51
Week 12 Winner: 2003 NCAA Football Pool (24 players) - Won:
$54
2nd Place Overall: 2004 NCAA Football Pool (30 players) -
Won: $171
1st Place Overall: 2005 NCAA Football Pool (47 players) -
Won: $512
4th Quarter Reverse: 2006 Super Bowl Squares Pool (100
players) - Won: $300*
9th Place: 2006 College Bowl Pool (185 players) - Won: $50
12th Place: 2006 College Bowl Pool (185 players) - Won: $50
1st Place Overall: 2007 NCAA Football Pool (93 players) -
Won: $1,030
St. Gertrudius has been a player at Barker's Pools since
1999, making her a long-time and valued member of the
competitions. This is her second year with a
nomination, and after barely missing out last season on this
prestigious award, she dominated the voting this year to win
her spot in the Hall of Fame. What makes her induction
so impressive is that she earned her spot in the Hall by
doing well in only one sport for the most part, but she has
absolutely destroyed the rest of the competition in the
sport from 2003 to 2007. College football is her
expertise, and using a top-secret, cunning "system" over the
years, she has been very consistent, winning 1st Place
Overall in the regular-season pool in 2005 and 2007, along
with 2nd Place Overall in 2003 and 2004. Very
impressive results, unmatched by anyone else in any of our
competitions. For her Hall of Fame award, she has won
the following prizes: a 25% discount in all 2008
competitions, 2 free entries in March Madness 2008, 1 free
entry for our new Summer Olympics Pool, 1 free entry for the
2008 NFL Survivor Pool, 1 free 2008 Bowl Pool entry, a 50%
discount for any 2008 fantasy team, a Barker's Pools t-shirt
and mousepad, and finally, a free 12-month subscription to
ESPN: The Magazine! Very nice work St. Gertrudius!
The 2007 Player of the Year voting results are:
David E. - 13
votes
Tom L. -
9
votes
Billy S. - 3 votes
Chris W. - 2 votes

- 2007 Player of the Year -
David E. (aka. beaver)
Pool Player Since: 2002
2007 Winnings: $862.50
Week 9 Winner: 2007 NCAA Football Pool (93 players) - Won: $187.50
1st Place Overall: 2007 Cappers Challenge (54 players) - Won: $675
Beaver wins the Player of the Year award for 2007!
The vote was closer than the Hall of Fame vote, but beaver definitely deserves
this. He only won two cash prizes in 2007, but the way in which he won the
Cappers Challenge competition was very impressive and proved he was the most
dominating pool player for this year. Each week, he chose 5 NFL wagers
against the spread, and by the end of the season, he had a 67% pick percentage.
You would win a lot of money by gambling on those picks, but the amazing thing
is that this would have won beaver the annual Hilton contest in Las Vegas, as he
had better results than the actual winner! For this skillful performance,
beaver wins a free entry for the 2008 March Madness, Survivor, and Bowl Pool
competitions and a free Barker's Pools mousepad! I would advise everyone
to follow beaver's picks in the 2008 Cappers Challenge!

Hall of Fame Members
~ 2006
~ ~ 2005
~ ~ 2004
~
This area is where we honor the very best pool players of
all-time at Barker's
Pools. The criteria we use
to decide who receives a nomination for the Hall of
Fame is as follows: players DO NOT qualify until they have played in the pools
for
at least two years, the longer the player has been a member, the better... and
the
more individual prizes they have won, the more players they defeated to win, and
the total cash they have won over the years all play an important factor.
Below, all
of the Hall of Fame members are listed, along with information about each
player.

- 2006 Hall of Fame Inductee -
Norbert R.
(aka. Volocity, Old Man McNair, NFL Underdog, Lucky 13, Ainge 4 Heisman)
Pool Player Since: 1998
Total Winnings: $1,243
Week 8 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers
Pool (15 players) - Won: $36
Week 12 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won: $36
Week 14 Winner: 2005 NFL Pick'em Pool (61 players) - Won: $165
Week 17 Winner: 2006 NFL Pick'em Pool (117 players) - Won: $351
2nd Place Overall: 2006 Cappers Challenge (58 players) - Won: $250
Best NFL Capper: 2006 Cappers Challenge (58 players) - Won: $125
7th Place: 2006 College Bowl Pool (185 players) - Won: $100
Week 6 Winner: 2007 NCAA Football Pool (93 players) - Won: $180
After a very tight vote, Volocity comes out on top as our
inductee for 2006 into the Hall of Fame
Volocity is one of the select few that has been a member of Barker's Pools from
the beginning, way
back in 1998. Only he and one or two others can say they have played in
every competition in the
history of this site (not including the fantasy leagues), so this honor is
definitely deserved. Over the
years, he has won eight cash prizes, including being the best NFL handicapper in
the 2006 Cappers
Challenge, so you can bet that you will have to fight past this Hall of Famer in
every pool you join in
the future. In addition to being honored in these hallowed halls forever,
Volocity receives a 30%
discount on all 2007 competitions, 2 free entries for the 2007 Survivor Pool, 2
free entries for the
2007 Bowl Pool, and a free one-year subscription to ESPN: The Magazine.
Congratulations Volocity!

- 2005 Hall of Fame Inductee -
Jason S. (aka. Sloandogg, Dogg Deuce)
Pool Player Since: 1998
Total Winnings: $1,102
1st Place: 1998 College
Bowl Pool (28 players) - Won: $140
Week 7 Winner: 2003 NCAA Football Pool (24 players) - Won: $51
Final Survivor: 2004 NFL Survivor Pool (34 players) - Won:
$206
Week 4 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won: $39
Week 4 Winner: 2005 NCAA Football Pool (47 players) - Won:
$114
Week 11 Winner: 2005 NFL Pick'em Pool (61 players) - Won: $159
1st Place: 2006 World Cup Pool (26 players) - Won: $195
Week 9 Winner: 2006 NCAA Football Pool (77 players) - Won:
$198
From the beginning of Barker's Pools, before there was even
a website and all of the players had to
use paper pick
sheets, Sloandogg has been a part of it all. Not only
has he played in every pool in
our 9-year history, he has
been a winner, showing great skill in every sport. His
specialty is definitely
football, but he contributes in
other ways too... whenever I need input on the direction our
site should
take, I ask Sloandogg for advice first.
You have him to thank for the fact that we even have a
weekly
NFL pool, as he campaigned for two years to add one.
Congratulations Jason! We look forward to
your
contributions for years to come! As our 2005 Hall of
Fame inductee, Sloandogg received a free
entry in the 2005 Bowl Pool, a free March Madness 2006 entry, and a 10% discount
on all 2006 pools!
-- 2004 Hall of Fame Inductee -
Phil T. (aka. Philthy)
Pool Player Since: 2001
Total Winnings: $1,362
1st Place: 2001 College
Bowl Pool (65 players) - Won: $423
Week 11 Winner: 2003 NCAA Football Pool (24 players) - Won:
$54
1st Place Overall: 2003 NCAA Football Pool (24 players) - <No
Cash Prize>
Week 7 Winner: 2004 NCAA Football Pool (30 players) - Won: $78
Week 9 Winner: 2004 NCAA Football Pool (30 players) - Won: $78
1st Place Overall: 2004 NCAA Football Pool (30 players) - Won:
$342
Week 3 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won: $39
Week 5 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won: $36
Week 15 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won: $42
1st Place Overall: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won:
$162
Best 2nd Half Player: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) -
Won: $108
From 2001-2004, Philthy was at or near the top of the
standings in nearly every pool he entered, and
he continues
to be a force, as he has racked up over $1,300 with
dominating strategy and execution.
He has made every
dollar from the football pools, both college and NFL, so if
I had money on the line
and needed someone to pick football
winners for me, Philthy would be my choice. If you are
battling
for the top position in the latest gridiron pool,
chances are you are going to have to go through Philthy
to
take 1st Place. Congratulations Philip! We wish
you the very best of luck and continued success in all of
the future competitions at Barker's Pools! As the 2004
Hall of Fame inductee, Philip received a
free 2004 College
Bowl Pool entry, as well as a 10% discount on every 2005
competition he played.

Player of the Year Award
~ 2006 ~ ~
2005 ~ ~ 2004 ~
In 2006, we decided to give out an award each year that would go to the best
pool player from the previous 12 months. This award can go to a veteran or
a
first-year player, but they should dominate the pools they enter, winning
several
cash prizes. Below you will find our Player of the Year award winners (in
2007, I
decided to retroactively award Player of the Year prizes for 2005 and 2004,
giving
us the same number of Hall of Fame inductees and Player of the Year winners).
- 2006
Player of the Year -
Todd H. (aka. Thinlou)
Pool Player Since: 2006
2006
Winnings: $834
Week 3 Winner: 2006 NCAA Football Pool (77 players) - Won:
$189
Week 7 Winner: 2006 NCAA Football Pool (77 players) - Won:

Week 14 Winner: 2006 NCAA Football Pool (77 players) - Won:
$210
2nd Place Overall: 2006 NCAA Football Pool (77 players) - Won:
$234
Thinlou absolutely dominated the competition
in the 2006 NCAA Football Pool, and although it was
just one
competition, he consistently outperformed the other 76
players throughout the season,
winning three weekly prizes
and the prize for 2nd Place Overall! He ended up with
$834 after the
season was over, so for that impressive run,
he wins the Player of the Year award for 2006! In
addition, he receives 1 free entry for the 2007 Survivor
Pool and 2 entries for the 2007 Bowl Pool.
- 2005
Player of the Year -
Tate G. (aka. cooltate)
Pool Player Since: 2005
2005
Winnings: $516
Week 5 Winner: 2005 NFL Pick'em Pool (61 players) - Won: $150
Week 16 Winner: 2005 NFL Pick'em Pool (61 players) - Won: $183
Week 17 Winner: 2005 NFL Pick'em Pool (61 players) - Won:
$183
Our second Player of the Year award goes to cooltate for his dominating NFL
results in 2005. He won three weeks of the NFL Pick'em Pool, including
impressive back-to-back wins the last two weeks of the year, beating out 60
other players. His total winnings in 2005 were a very cool $516. In
addition to the Player of the Year title, cooltate received a free entry into
the March Madness competition.
- 2004
Player of the Year -
Phil T. (aka. Philthy)
Pool Player Since: 2001
2004
Winnings: $885
Week 7 Winner: 2004 NCAA Football Pool (30 players) - Won: $78
Week 9 Winner: 2004 NCAA Football Pool (30 players) - Won: $78

Week 3 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won:

Week 5 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won:
$36
Week 15 Winner: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won:
$42
1st Place Overall: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won:
$162
Best 2nd Half Player: 2004 NFL Cappers Pool (15 players) - Won:
$108
Not only was Philthy our first Hall of Fame inductee in 2004, he also won our
very first Player of the Year award. We did not have as many players in
'04, but no player has ever won 8 different cash prizes in one year, as Philthy
dominated the college and pro football pools. His total winnings were
$885, so he was very deserving of the first POY award. He also received a
free March Madness entry.
